more about my story

Hi, I'm Kasey! I am a self-taught artist and illustrator based out of Kansas City, Missouri. As a child, art class was like walking into a magical world of color, art supplies and wonder.

Sadly, adulthood brought a disconnection from my vibrant, creative self. Through meditation, therapy, and motherhood I have ultimately rekindled my love of art.

Today, I view creating as a practice in presence, healing, and slowing down. When not illustrating, I enjoys adventures in nature with her husband and two sons.

my favorite quote

Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.

My transition into motherhood was a powerful one. I reached a point in my life where I knew I needed to prioritize myself and my healing. I started seeing a therapist when pregnant with my first son. It started to become very clear in my therapy sessions that part of me desperately wanted to start being more creative. I bought a sketchbook and began to doodle in my free time. A few months later I took an online watercolor painting class. I began to realize that the more I created the more joy I felt in my life. I just kept creating.

My two sons have taught me how to slow down and really pay attention. They have helped me unearth my love of being creative.

When I saw one of Kasey's posts, I knew I wanted to reach out to collaborate on an upcoming project. Her art is EXACTLY what I’ve envisioned for the illustrations in my next book, to which I eagerly commissioned her to create both hand drawn and digital art. She chose quotes from the book and created a unique work of art with every single design. She sent me videos and voice notes along the way, inviting me into her creative process. Her excitement was contagious and I felt re-inspired by witnessing HER journey with the words I’d written.

Literal works of art…
every single one of them!!!
